How we ranked the top spa companies in India
India's spa industry is unusually fragmented. Alongside a handful of institutional spa management companies, there are hundreds of individual consultants, therapist-staffing agencies and product distributors that all describe themselves as "spa consultants." For a hotelier evaluating a real partner, the useful shortlist is much shorter.
We built this ranking around four criteria that separate an operator from a supplier — portfolio scale, talent pipeline, track record and commercial model. Companies are ranked on the balance of all four, weighted toward operating depth rather than marketing visibility.
How many live hotel or resort spas the company actually operates today — the single best proxy for institutional operating discipline.
Whether the company runs its own therapist recruitment and training — or is a broker that supplies staff from third parties.
Years in market, longest continuous hotel partnership, and third-party recognition (industry awards, marquee references).
Managed contract with skin-in-the-game revenue share, versus flat-fee consultancy, versus staffing markup. Different models fit different owners.
